Venture Grant Announcements!

For the 14th consecutive year, the Wilmington Area Education Foundation has awarded Venture Grants to teachers in the school district for innovative educational ideas.  With eight grants awarded for the 2019-20 school year, the Education Foundation has now awarded 76 grants since the program’s inception in 2003.

Programs for Venture Grants have evolved throughout the nation.  The grants help to meet the need to bring new resources into the classroom, the focal point of education.  These resources typically are unavailable in the current operating budget but materials developed in Venture Grant projects frequently have become part of the school’s curriculum.  Venture Grants are effective because they put funds directly into the classroom where they can do the most good.

Anyone interested in making a contribution to the Wilmington Area Education Foundation to be used for Venture Grants or any of the other educational enhancements supported by the foundation, including student scholarships, should contact foundation president Jim Dafler through the Wilmington Area School District.
